UnConference Location Ballot - Put Your Vote In!

Page history last edited by Vincci Kwong 10 mos ago

Hi All -

Thanks to all of you for checking our various possible spots for our UnConference!

Now we're ready to vote on it all! So, here's the "Ballot":

Ball State University’s Bracken Library:

Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library:

Anderson Public Library:

Crawfordsville Public Library:

Notes:

-          Danielle found that the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library is closed on August 7th for staff training.

      -          Tony found that nothing on the IUPUI Campus Center is actually available that day...

-     Additional information for location of conference can be found at Board-planning-page

I suppose that we could do private voting (via e-mail to me: astankra@iusb.edu) OR totally open voting...

I'm comfortable with whichever folks are comfortable with!

One way or another, we should decide and discuss - and then secure our spot!

Alison

Oh - SORRY!

If you'd like to refer to all the criterion on each location, refer to the "Board-Planning-Page" here in this wiki - that's where I've copied-and-pasted all the information that people gave me about each of the locations on the ballot.

Thanks,

Alison

I'm fine with voting here!

My #1 vote is for Ball State.
My #2 vote is for Anderson PL. :)

Still wish IMCPL was a better option because it'd be a cool place to hold a cool conference, but I'll jump in for Ball State with Anderson #2.

I guess I'll go with Ball State too. I've never been there and hopefully I won't get lost on the way home like I did from Anderson. This time I'll know to do reverse directions!

I'd be happy with any of the options, but think I'll g along with the trend of #1 Ball State, and #2 Anderson Public. I think it might be convenient to possibly have access to multiple smaller rooms already set up with computer projectors and screens at BSU, though I'm sure we could bring in some equipment to supplement what Anderson has if necessary. Unless the Student Union has moved since my last visit, it is only a two block walk. The caterer doesn't sound that out of line to me either. I couldn't find prices for IMCPL's Flik International without calling them, but the sample menu looked very high end. I did find a review of the Question Mark Cafe at IMCPL Central (also run by Flik), and it said you could easily spend $10 for sandwich, chips, and a drink. I think we spent $7.50 per box lunch at Fort Wayne last summer, which seemed like a good deal to me at the time. I never got an e-mail with further info from IMCPL, but can call if anyone wants more info. I forgot to ask on the phone whether technology and assistance are provided, but I would assume that such a new building is well equipped. Renee

Steve, Does BSU's contract with their caterer prevent us from providing morning or afternoon beverages and snacks on our own? Usually conference attendees seem to expect at least coffee and a bagel/donut in the morning, and if your caterer is anything like Butler's Aramark, they can charge a ridiculous amount for coffee. That might change my vote to Anderson PL, where they probably won't care who provides the food.

You as an individual can bring coffee and donuts for yourself but we could not have an outside caterer bring in food. BTW there is a cafe in the library. It has coffee, danish, sandwiches, etc.

Hi All -
And I too, vote for Ball State University, with the Anderson Public Library a second choice.

All -

I've heard from everyone with their votes - and we're all agreed:

Ball State University wins, with the Anderson Public Library being a second choice.

So: The next step comes - Steve and Stacy, do you want to start negotiating/talking with Ball State events (or whichever comparable office) to get us in and going?

Let me know what I can do to help.

Thanks Everyone!
